The engagement is for the ITEP four-year programme for the academic session 2026–27. Eligibility Criteria of University of Jammu Vacancies
For Assistant Professor
Candidates must fulfill eligibility condition A or B as prescribed by the University.
Eligibility A includes a good academic record with at least 55 percent marks at the Master’s level in the relevant subject. Relaxation of marks is applicable for reserved categories and Ph.D. degree holders as per UGC rules.
NET, SLET or SET is mandatory unless exempted under UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016. Candidates awarded Ph.D. degrees before July 11, 2009, are also eligible for exemption subject to fulfillment of prescribed conditions.
Eligibility B includes candidates who have obtained a Ph.D. degree from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 universities globally as per QS, THE or ARWU rankings.
Assistant Professor in Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy
Postgraduate degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, English or Hindi with at least 55 percent marks.
B.Ed. degree with minimum 55 percent marks.
NET, SLET, SET or Ph.D. in Education or the concerned subject.
Desirable qualifications include M.Ed. or Ph.D. in Education.
Assistant Professor in Educational Studies
Postgraduate degree in Education with at least 55 percent marks.
NET, SLET, SET or Ph.D. in Education as prescribed by UGC.
Desirable qualification includes a Master’s degree in Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology or allied subjects.
Teaching Assistant
In case eligible candidates with NET, SET or Ph.D. are not available, candidates having a Master’s degree with at least 55 percent marks may be considered as Teaching Assistants. Salary will be paid as per University norms.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on a total of 100 marks.
Academic record, research publications, teaching or post-doctoral experience and awards will be considered. Domain knowledge, teaching skills and performance in the interview will also be assessed as per University norms.
