National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has released an official notification for engagement of a Psychological Counsellor on retainership (hourly) basis. Eligible Indian citizens are invited to apply for this temporary engagement at the NIFT Srinagar campus, Ompora, Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
The engagement will initially be for a period of one year and may be extended up to three years based on mutual consent and satisfactory performance.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Psychology / Behavioural Psychology or a relevant professional diploma from a Government-recognised University.
Doctoral degree holders will be preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (05) years of proven professional experience, including private practice.
Job Description
The Psychological Counsellor will be responsible for counselling NIFT students and staff facing issues such as:
- Anxiety, depression, and academic stress
- Homesickness and personal life challenges
- Bereavement and relationship difficulties
- Adolescent-related issues
- Mental health conditions including eating disorders, PTSD, and psychosis
All counselling sessions must be kept strictly confidential.
Working Schedule
- Campus Visit: Twice a week (preferably Tuesday & Thursday)
- Minimum Duration: 3 hours per day
- Time: 2:30 PM to 05:30 PM
- Emergency Support: Counsellor may be contacted as and when required
Remuneration
- Consolidated Pay: ₹700 per hour
- Conveyance Charges: As per Government of India norms
