University of Kashmir has issued a brief notification inviting online applications from domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for several non-teaching posts in different departments. The posts include Museum Artist, Junior Museum Assistant, Landscape Development Officer and Curator under various pay levels. All positions are open under the Unreserved category.
As per the official notice, the posts carry distinct essential qualifications based on the department. These include postgraduate degrees in Museology, Archaeology, History, Agriculture, Horticulture, Botany or Zoology as applicable. Some posts require certificate courses, technical expertise or experience in documentation and specimen handling. Candidates must carefully review the qualifications to ensure they meet the requirements for the advertised post.
Online applications can be submitted through the University’s official portal within the dates specified in the advertisement. In-service candidates must also submit hard copies through proper channel before the deadline. Important Dates:
The registration process for these posts begins on 3 December 2025 and will remain open until 26 December 2025. The last date for in-service candidates to submit hard copies is 31 December 2025. Candidates must ensure that they submit complete application forms and meet all specified eligibility conditions.
Vacancy Details:
The University of Kashmir has announced four posts under this notification. The post of Museum Artist is available in the Centre of Central Asian Studies with one vacancy in Pay Level 04. Junior Museum Assistant is also available in the same centre with one vacancy in Pay Level 02. The Landscape Development Officer post carries one vacancy in Pay Level 06 under the University Landscape Division. The Curator post is available in the Department of Zoology with one vacancy in Pay Level 06.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates applying for Museum Artist must have a postgraduate degree in Museology with a diploma in Archaeology, or a postgraduate degree in Archaeology with a diploma in Museology, or a postgraduate degree in History with a diploma in Archaeology. A six-month certificate course in Visual Arts is desirable. The Junior Museum Assistant post requires a postgraduate degree in Archaeology or Museology along with experience in documentation of artefacts or cultural heritage.
For the post of Landscape Development Officer, candidates must have an M.Sc in Agriculture or Horticulture with specialisation in Floriculture and Landscaping, or Botany with at least 55 percent marks. Required technical skills include knowledge of plant materials used in public spaces, landscape designing, cultivation practices and environmental sustainability. Soft skills such as communication, presentation and creative abilities are also important.
The Curator post in the Department of Zoology requires an M.Sc in Zoology with at least 55 percent marks. A Ph.D in Zoology with specialisation in areas like Wildlife, Ichthyology, Entomology or Parasitology is desirable. Candidates must possess skills in collection, preservation and preparation of zoological specimens along with cataloguing and mounting techniques.
