Supreme Court of India 2025 Notification released for 30 Court Master (Shorthand) Posts, Apply Online Now

The Supreme Court has opened applications for 30 Court Master posts in shorthand category with age limit 30-45 years and pay level 11. The last date to apply online is 15 September 2025.

The Supreme Court of India has issued an official notification inviting online applications for the post of Court Master (Shorthand). A total of 30 vacancies are available for this gazetted position under Pay Level 11 with a starting basic pay of 67,700 rupees plus allowances. Candidates will be selected through a detailed process including shorthand test, written test, typing speed test, and interview.

As per the notification, the online registration process will begin on 30th August 2025 and will remain open till 15th September 2025. The notification was released on 28th July 2025. Interested candidates are advised to check the eligibility conditions carefully before applying online at the official website of the Supreme Court of India.

The minimum age required is 30 years and the maximum age is 45 years as on 1st July 2025. Relaxations in the upper age limit are available for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-servicemen, and dependents of Freedom Fighters as per Government of India rules. There is no upper age limit for departmental candidates of the Supreme Court.

Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for the post of Court Master, candidates must hold a degree from a recognized university and should have proficiency in English shorthand at 120 words per minute along with a typing speed of 40 words per minute on computer. Knowledge of computer operations is required. A minimum of five years of regular service as Private Secretary, Senior Personal Assistant, Personal Assistant or Senior Stenographer in Government, PSUs or statutory bodies is also necessary. The age limit for applicants is 30 to 45 years as on 1st July 2025 with relaxation as per rules.

The pay scale for the post is at Pay Level 11 of the Pay Matrix with initial basic pay of 67,700 rupees plus allowances. The application fee is 1500 rupees for general category and 750 rupees for reserved categories including SC, ST, OBC, PwD and Ex-servicemen.

Selection Process:
The selection process will consist of four stages. The first stage is the shorthand test in English at 120 words per minute for 7 minutes with transcription time of 45 minutes. The maximum marks are 100 with 50 required to qualify. The second stage is an objective type written test of 100 questions carrying 100 marks with minimum qualifying marks of 50 for general and 45 for reserved. The third stage is a typing speed test on computer with 40 words per minute minimum speed and qualifying marks of 10 for general and 5 for reserved candidates. The final stage is an interview of 30 marks where candidates must score 15 for general and 13 for reserved to qualify. Candidates holding a law degree will receive 3 marks as weightage.

Candidates can apply by visiting www.sci.gov.in, going to the recruitment section, filling the online application form, uploading documents, paying the fee through the UCO Bank gateway, and submitting the application. A printout should be kept for reference.
