Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Division of Plant Biotechnology, has released a notification for the recruitment of a Laboratory/Project Assistant under a DST-sponsored project. The project is titled “Unravelling the Transcriptional Dynamics for Development of Eco-friendly & Commercially Viable Novel Technique for Mass-multiplication of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) Corms for Better Yield & Quality”.
This position is purely on a contractual basis and is co-terminous with the project duration. The engagement is focused on research related to saffron corm multiplication through advanced biotechnological tools and methods.
Eligible candidates must submit their applications in hard copy before 9th May 2025. The interview is tentatively scheduled for 15th May 2025. Monthly remuneration for the selected candidate is ₹20,000 plus HRA, as per DST norms. Further details regarding eligibility and the application process are provided below.

Eligibility Criteria of Laboratory Assistant Post:
Candidates must hold a B.Sc. in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, or related allied subjects with a minimum of 60% marks. Preference will be given to candidates holding an M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Genetics, or Biochemistry who also have research experience in transcriptomics, RNASeq, gene expression studies, PCR/RT-PCR, bioinformatics, and core biotech lab techniques.
Applicants should be self-motivated and possess a good understanding of laboratory-based research in plant sciences. Prior experience with saffron-related research will be considered an added advantage.
