University of Kashmir JRF Vacancy for Environmental Science & Geoinformatics Projects 2025

Applications are invited by the University of Kashmir for two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions under a research project funded by the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS). The project is titled “Emerging Contaminants in Himalayan Catchments: Sources, distribution, fate of transport, and management.” These positions are temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.

As per the extended notice issued by the university, the last date to apply is now 27 April 2025. Candidates should be highly motivated and willing to conduct field and lab-based work, particularly in the Ladakh Himalaya region.

The selected fellows will work under the supervision of Dr. Sami Ullah Bhat, Principal Investigator, and Co-PIs from the Departments of Geography, Earth Science, and Geoinformatics.

1) Educational Qualifications
JRF Position 1: Postgraduate in Environmental Science with NET/GATE.
JRF Position 2: Postgraduate in Geoinformatics / Applied Geology / Geography with NET/GATE

2) Desirable Experience
For JRF Position 1: Prior work in microplastic or water pollution.
For JRF Position 2: Prior experience in glaciology or hydrology.
