The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has released the official notification inviting applications from interested and eligible officers for the post of Section Officer on deputation basis. A total of 74 vacancies are available for appointment in 37 Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) across India.
As mentioned in the official memorandum issued on 7th May 2025, the post carries pay level 8/10 as per the pay matrix. The deputation period will initially be for two years and may be extended further as per DoP&T rules. Applicants should not exceed 56 years of age as on 1st March 2025.
Eligible officers currently serving in Central Secretariat Service (CSS) in analogous posts on regular basis can apply. The application must be submitted through the proper channel before the last date of 6th June 2025, along with required documents and clearances.

Applicants must be officers currently working in Central Secretariat Service (CSS), holding analogous posts in Level 8/10 of the pay matrix on regular basis. The maximum age limit for appointment on deputation should not exceed 56 years as on 1st March 2025.
Candidates must also possess good managerial and interpersonal skills, be capable of liaising with various government departments, and have strong communication and drafting abilities. Previous experience in government policy, court cases, RTI, audit, or public dealing will be an added advantage.

Applicants need to submit up-to-date ACRs/APARs for the last five years, cadre clearance, vigilance clearance, statement of penalties (if any), and bio-data in prescribed format signed and forwarded with due cadre clearance.

The selection of candidates will be on the basis of eligibility, required experience, and forwarding of the application through the proper government channel. Officers selected must serve the deputation term without premature relieving except in rare circumstances.
