The Post Graduate Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir, Srinagar has invited applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow under a project sanctioned by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The project is titled “Replacement of fish oil and evaluation of dietary fat-soluble vitamin requirement of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchys mykiss (Walbaum 1792) with a view to develop nutritionally balanced cost effective feeds for uplifting the trout farming in J&K.” The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
As per the notification, the position will be initially for one year and can be extended for up to three years depending on performance. The fellowship includes a monthly salary of Rs. 37,000 plus 18% HRA for the first two years, and Rs. 42,000 plus 18% HRA for the third year. Candidates applying for this role must submit their applications by 19 September 2025.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates should have M.Sc. in Zoology with specialization in Fishery Science with at least 55% marks or a Master’s in Fisheries Science (M.FSc) with at least 55% marks. Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET or equivalent examinations will be preferred. Desirable qualifications include experience in handling and rearing of fish, formulation of fish feed, conducting feeding trials, hemato-biochemical techniques, statistical analysis, and knowledge of physico-chemical aspects of water bodies.
