University of Kashmir Opens JRF/JPF Posts for NMHS Project – Apply by 25 May

The Department of Environmental Science at the University of Kashmir has invited applications for two positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Junior Project Fellow (JPF) under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) funded project. The research project is titled “Emerging Contaminants in Himalayan Catchments: Sources, distribution, fate of transport, and management” and will involve extensive fieldwork in Ladakh and lab-based studies.

The engagement will be for one year initially, extendable based on performance and fund availability for up to two more years. The positions are temporary and co-terminus with the project. Candidates must apply by filling out the online Google form and may also send their documents via email in PDF format by 25 May 2025. Preference will be given to NET/GATE qualified candidates with relevant research experience.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates interested in applying can check the eligibility criteria, age limit, application fee, and other essential details below.

Educational Qualifications:
– JRF/JPF (Environmental Science): PG in Environmental Science with NET/GATE.
– JRF/JPF (Geoinformatics/Geology/Geography): PG in Geoinformatics/Applied Geology/Geography with NET/GATE.

Desirable:
– Environmental Science stream: Research experience in microplastics or water pollution.
– Geoinformatics stream: Research experience in glaciology or hydrology.
– Candidates should be inclined toward pursuing PhD.

Other Requirements:
The work involves rigorous field sampling in the Ladakh Himalaya and laboratory work both within and outside the university.
