Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), Institute of Biotechnology, Chatha has released an advertisement inviting applications from eligible Indian nationals for a temporary Young Professional I (YP-I) position.
This post is under the ICAR funded research project titled “Pan-genome analysis of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes from the Northern Himalayan Region for enhanced disease resistance and agronomic performance”.
The engagement is purely contractual and co-terminus with the project. The appointment will initially be for two months, extendable subject to performance and availability of funds. Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying.

Eligibility Criteria of SKUAST Jammu Young Professional Vacancy
Educational Qualification: Graduate in Biotechnology or Agriculture
Upper Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as on 01 February 2026
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology / Plant Breeding and Genetics / Vegetable Sciences
- Experience in data collection for field crops on biotic stresses
- Experience in statistical analysis of morphological field crop data
Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Frequent field visits to Bhaderwah, the main experimental site
- Participation in field trials and data collection
- Preparation of germplasm for sowing and data recording on over 700 germplasm lines
- Harvesting, storage and maintenance of important germplasm
- Managing field labour
- Laboratory screening of germplasm
- Digitalization and analysis of field data
- Assisting in preparation of project reports
