JKPSC Notification for Superintendent Jail Post in J&K Prisons Department – Apply by 12 June 2025

JKPSC has opened applications for Superintendent Jail post in the J&K Prisons Department with a pay scale of Rs. 47,600 – Rs. 1,51,100; apply before 12 June 2025.

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has officially released a notification inviting online applications for the post of Superintendent Jail in the J&K Prisons Department. This recruitment is being conducted under notification number 06-PSC (DR-P) of 2025, dated 09 May 2025.

As per the notification, candidates must be domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must meet the prescribed academic qualifications, age criteria, and physical standards. The recruitment process will be carried out under the J&K Prisons (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules, 2021.

Interested candidates can apply online on the official JKPSC website from 13 May 2025 to 12 June 2025. A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1200 is applicable for General category candidates, while PHC candidates are exempt. Applicants should carefully read all eligibility conditions before applying online.

Eligibility Criteria of Superintendent Jail Post:
To be eligible for the Superintendent Jail post, the applicant must possess a Post Graduate degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or a Master’s in Social Work from a recognized university. Male candidates must have a minimum height of 5’6” and chest measurement of 32”-33½”, while female candidates must be at least 5’2” tall. Physical fitness will be assessed by the concerned Divisional Medical Board.

Candidates applying under the OM and in-service categories should not be born after 01.01.2007 or before 01.01.1985, meaning the upper age limit is 40 years as of 01 January 2025. The applicant must also be a domicile of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, with a valid Domicile Certificate issued before the last date of online application.

How to Apply:
Eligible candidates must apply through the official website of JKPSC (www.jkpsc.nic.in) from 13 May 2025 onwards. Applicants must ensure that their One Time Registration (OTR) profile is updated before submitting the online application.

Application Fee:
Candidates in the General Category must pay Rs. 1200 as the application fee through online mode. PHC candidates are exempt from fee payment. Applications submitted without fee payment will be rejected.

Selection Process for JKPSC Superintendent Jail Post:
The selection will be done as per Rule 43(ii) of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business and Procedure) Rules, 2021. The scheme of examination and syllabus are mentioned in Government Order No. 168-Home of 2024 dated 12 April 2024 and can be accessed on the official website of JKPSC.
