The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced a revised schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026). The registration process, which was earlier planned to begin on August 25, will now start from August 28, 2025, through the official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
As per the revised timeline, candidates can submit their applications without a late fee until September 28, 2025. Those who miss the deadline will still have the option to apply by paying a late fee until October 9, 2025. The exam will be conducted in February 2026 across multiple dates.
The GATE 2026 results will be announced on March 19, 2026. Candidates are advised to carefully go through eligibility and fee details before applying.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be studying in the third or higher years of a degree program or must have completed a degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognized institution. The qualifying examinations must be approved by MoE, AICTE, UGC, or UPSC. Candidates with equivalent qualifications from foreign institutions are also eligible to apply.
Application Fee:
The application fee is Rs. 1000 per test paper during the regular period and Rs. 1500 during the extended period for Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates. For other categories, the fee is Rs. 2000 per paper in the regular period and Rs. 2500 during the extended period.
