DRDO DYSL-AI Junior Research Fellowship Recruitment 2026 – Apply for JRF Posts

DRDO Young Scientist Lab Artificial Intelligence is recruiting 02 Junior Research Fellows with GATE/NET qualification. Stipend Rs 37000 plus HRA. Apply before 22 January 2026.

DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory – Artificial Intelligence (DYSL-AI), Bengaluru has invited applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). The fellowship is for candidates who wish to work in the field of Artificial Intelligence including deep learning, NLP, computer vision and reinforcement learning.

There are 02 vacancies for JRF. The fellowship is purely temporary and does not grant any right to permanent employment in DRDO. The last date for submission of application is 21 days from the date of publication in Employment News or before 22 January 2026, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility Criteria for DRDO DYSL-AI JRF Posts


Educational Qualification (any one of the following):

  • B.E / B.Tech in first division with valid NET or GATE
  • M.E / M.Tech in first division at both Graduate and Post Graduate level
  • Post Graduate degree in Basic Science in first division with NET

Desirable Knowledge:

  • Strong fundamentals in problem solving and algorithms
  • Experience in Python, Java or C++
  • Knowledge of AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning
  • Hands-on work with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, TensorRT etc.
  • Expertise in NLP, Speech Technology, SLAM, ROS, Computer Vision or Reinforcement Learning

Age Limit:

  • Upper age limit is 28 years as on last date of application
  • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates

Fellowship Stipend


  • Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA (currently 30%)
  • Total approx. Rs. 48,100 per month
  • Accommodation may be provided, in which case HRA is not paid

Tenure of Fellowship


  • Initially for two years as JRF
  • May be upgraded to SRF for further 2–3 years based on performance
  • Purely temporary and co-terminus with project

Selection Process


  • Shortlisting based on GATE score / marks
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview
  • Interview may be online or offline
  • Final selection decision rests with DYSL-AI
