The Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee has officially released an advertisement for the recruitment of Security Officer under direct recruitment. This is a prestigious opportunity for ex-servicemen or paramilitary officers to take up a supervisory role in one of India’s premier research institutions focused on building science and technology.
According to the official notification, the position is open to eligible ex-officers from Armed Forces or equivalent paramilitary ranks with relevant service experience. The maximum age limit for the position is 35 years as on the last date of application submission. Selected candidates will be offered a Level 7 pay scale along with other admissible allowances.

Essential Qualification:
Applicants must be Ex-Short Service Commission Officers or Ex-Servicemen JCO (Subedar or equivalent or higher rank) from Army/Navy/Air Force OR equivalent rank in paramilitary forces such as ITBP, BSF, CRPF, CISF with at least 10 years’ experience in security.
For Short Service Commission Officers or Assistant Commandants in CRPF/BSF/ITBP, 5 years of service is sufficient.
For Inspectors from paramilitary forces, 10 years of experience is required.
Maximum Age Limit is 35 years as on 18 May 2025. Age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen will be applicable as per Govt. of India rules.
How to Apply:
Applicants who meet the criteria must apply through the official recruitment portal of CSIR-CBRI. The application involves online registration, fee payment, and final form submission.
Application Fee:
Candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. However, SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen and Women applicants are exempted from paying the fee.
Selection Process:
The selection process will be conducted in three stages:
1) Physical and Personality Assessment Test – This is qualifying in nature and includes minimum height, chest measurements, and physical tasks such as running, long jump, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.
2) Written Test – Two papers:
Paper-I: Objective MCQs (100 questions, 100 marks) – Mental ability, reasoning, aptitude, no negative marking.
Paper-II: Descriptive (100 marks) – Comprehension, Report Writing, Security Regulations, Firefighting, General Awareness.
Candidates must score at least 30% in Paper-I to have Paper-II evaluated. Minimum 35% is needed in Paper-II for merit list consideration.
3) Final Selection – Based solely on Paper-II performance. Tie-breaking rules will apply if scores are the same.
