Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, Kashmir has issued an advertisement Notification inviting online applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Contractual Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The engagement will be on an academic arrangement basis for teaching, research, and allied academic activities.
According to the official notice, the engagement is initially up to 31 December 2025 or until the post is filled on a substantive basis, whichever is earlier. It may be extended based on the annual performance appraisal, student feedback, and recommendations of the concerned department.
The selection will be made in accordance with UGC Regulations 2018, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews. The panel recommended by the selection committee will remain valid for one year.

The online application process for the post will begin on 18 October 2025. The last date for submission of the online form is 22 October 2025 up to 4:30 PM, and hard copies must be submitted to the concerned department by 23 October 2025.

Emoluments:
For candidates with Postgraduate Degree – Rs. 45,000 per month
For candidates with NET/SET/GATE – Rs. 48,000 per month
For candidates with Ph.D. – Rs. 50,000 per month
For candidates with both NET/SET/GATE and Ph.D. – Rs. 50,000 per month
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in a relevant or allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign university. In addition, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar accredited test like SLET/SET. Those who possess a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC regulations are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
The tenure of engagement will be up to the end of 2025, subject to extension based on performance. Leaves and vacations will be as per university norms governing such contractual appointments.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the university website www.iust.ac.in by paying a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500 through online mode. After online submission, candidates must submit a hard copy of the application along with self-attested documents to the concerned department before the last date. Applications without hard copies will not be considered.
Selection Process:
Shortlisting for interview will follow UGC Regulations 2018 criteria. Twenty candidates will be shortlisted for one post and five additional candidates for every extra post. The selection will be based solely on interview performance. The final list will remain valid for one year for possible future vacancies.
Candidates must bring original certificates and testimonials during the interview. No TA or DA will be provided. Qualifications and experience will be considered as of the last date of application. Candidates must ensure that their publications are free from plagiarism and are from journals indexed in the UGC-CARE list.
