Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level examination that assesses candidates for comprehensive understanding in various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities for admission to various Master’s and Doctoral Programs and Recruitment by some Public Sector Undertakings.
Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru activated the GATE 2024 registration process. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering examination application portal for GATE 2024 is open and candidates can now register and submit application forms through the official site of IISc on gate2024.iisc.ac.in.
The Closing Date of the online registration/ application process (Without a Late Fee) is 29th September 2023 and with Late Fee is 13th October 2023.
Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2024.

- Visit the official site of IISc GATE on gate2024.iisc.ac.in.
- Click on the Login link available on the home page.
- Enter the registration details and click on submit.
- Now, login to the account and fill in the application form.
- Upload the necessary documents and make the payment of application fees.
- Once done, click on submit.Your application has been submitted.
- Download the confirmation page and keep a hard copy of the same for further need.

Candidates with an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture or Humanities and who are third year of the UG degree in these disciplines can apply for the exam. These degrees must be are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as equivalent to BE/ BTech/ BArch/ BPlanning, etc.
For those studying/studied outside India must be in the third year of the UG degree programme in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities or have a degree of at least three year’s duration.
To apply for GATE, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD or Female categories have to pay Rs.900 during the regular and Rs.1,400 during the extended period. For all others, the fee is Rs.1,800 during the regular and Rs.2,300 during the extended period.
There will be a total of 30 test papers. GATE 2024 test papers will be in English and entirely of the objective type. There are three different kinds of questions: multiple-choice (MCQ), multiple-selection (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT).In MCQs, only one out of four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one out of four options is/are correct; and for NAT questions, the answer must be keyed in using a virtual keypad. The candidates must use only the on-screen virtual calculator provided for their calculations.
GATE 2024 will have a new test paper on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA).
