Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 moon sighting live: Muslims throughout India, Pakistan, Australia, Singapore, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries are gearing up to sight the new crescent moon on the evening of Tuesday, April 09, 2024 corresponding to Ramadan 29, 1445 Hijri, that will mark the end of Ramadan and the onset of the month of Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr as its first day.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, after the sighting of the new moon or crescent moon.
If the crescent moon of Shawwal is sighted tonight in India, Pakistan, Australia, Singapore, Bangladesh and other South Asian countries, it will be a rare festive celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10, together with the Muslims in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, USA, United Kingdom and other countries in the Middle East and West.

The crescent moon was spotted in Kargil tonight, which means the pious festival of Eid-al-Fitr will be celebrated there on April 10, confirmed Kargil’s Jamiat-Ul-Ulama-Isnia-Ashria.

- The Shawwl crescent moon was not visible in Lucknow tonight, hence Eid will be celebrated on April 11, announced Lucknow’s Markazi Chand Committee.
- The crescent moon was also not sighted in Delhi on April 9, hence the Eid celebration will be held on April 11, confirmed Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid.
- Shawwal’s crescent moon was not sighted in Hyderabad tonight. This marks the celebration of the pious festival of Ramadan month on April 11, confirmed Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Sadar Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Deccan, also known as the Moon sighting committee in Hyderabad.

Eid-ul-Fitr moon was not sighted in Lucknow tonight hence, Muslims to continue fasting on Wednesday while Eid will be celebrated on April 11th, as Markazi Chand Committee Eidgah, Lucknow announced. Idgah Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali announced that the Shawwal crescent was not sighted today. Due to moon not being visible, Eid will now be celebrated on April 11.
