Srinagar Schools to Teach Four Fundamental Operations of Mathematics with “BODMAS” to Students Up to Class 10th

In an effort to improve the quality of education and promote equal interest in learning among students, authorities in Srinagar have decided to teach the four fundamental operations of Mathematics using the “BODMAS” acronym to all students up to class 10th.

The decision was made after it was found that the lack of teaching these concepts was hindering students’ understanding of Mathematics and making their studies more difficult.

According to a circular issued by the Chief Education Officer of Srinagar, a discussion was held with education experts and experienced officers to identify reasons for the lack of interest in studies among some students. It was concluded that a lack of command over Mathematics prevented students from becoming intelligent, efficient, and all-rounded citizens. As a result, it has been mandated that all schools in the Srinagar district must teach these basic concepts to all students from Primary to Higher Secondary levels.

The circular directs all heads of institutions to ensure that all students up to class 10th are taught the four fundamental operations and “BODMAS” within a 15-day window from April 24 to May 8. The circular also warns that any student found to be weak in these basic concepts after May 9 may face consequences, and the concerned teachers and heads of institutions will be held responsible.

To ensure proper implementation of the circular, the chairman of cluster-level committees has been directed to monitor the teaching process under the guidance and supervision of respective cluster heads.
