NCERT Removes Chapters on Mughal Empire from Class 12 History Book

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently revised its textbooks, including the 12th-grade History book, by removing chapters related to the Mughal Empire.

This change applies to all schools following the NCERT curriculum throughout the country. Specifically, the “Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)” chapters have been removed from the “Themes of Indian History-Part 2” book.

Additionally, the NCERT will be removing some poems and paragraphs from the Hindi textbooks.

The changes will be implemented in the current academic session, 2023-2024.

The Civics book for the 12th grade has also been updated, with two chapters titled “American Hegemony in World Politics” and “The Cold War Era” being removed.

Similarly, two chapters, “Rise of Popular Movements” and “Era of One Party Dominance,” have been removed from the Class 12th textbook “Indian Politics after Independence.”

The changes also extend to Class 10th and 11th textbooks, where chapters on “Democracy and Diversity,” “Popular Struggles and Movements,” and “Challenges of Democracy” have been removed from the Class 10th book “Democratic Politics-2.”

Moreover, chapters such as “Central Islamic Lands,” “Clash of Cultures,” and “Industrial Revolution” have been dropped from the Class 11th textbook “Themes in World History.”

Officials have confirmed that the new syllabus and textbooks have been updated this year and are currently being implemented in various schools.
